- Brain tumors
- Epilepsy and other seizure disorders
- Nerve and muscular disorders
- Migraine and headaches
A team approach to neurological care
Ellis' Neuro ICU brings together a multidisciplinary team of specialists consisting of neurologists, neurosurgeons, certified neuro ICU nurses, radiologists, neuroscience physician assistants, rehabilitation professionals and others - all specially trained to enhance the quality of care provided on the unit. The team gathers together at least once a day, or more often if necessary, to discuss their patients' care. The effective collaboration and communication among these specialists is one of the reasons why Ellis' neuroscience program is a national model of care for the treatment of brain, spine and nerve disorders.
Advanced monitoring and safety standards
Around-the-clock care of our ICU patients includes evaluating vital signs, speech and eye responses. This personalized care is supported by advanced technology, monitoring and treatments, including EEG monitoring and intracranial pressure monitoring. Additionally, the Neuro ICU utilizes advanced fall prevention strategies, strictly adheres to infection control protocols, and also employs pressure ulcer prevention strategies to keep patients safe and well cared for.
The high quality of care delivered in the Neuro ICU helps ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. And while the road to recovery for many or our patients can be long and challenging, the care they receive in the Neuro ICU can give them the strength, stability and support they need to move forward on their path to recuperation.
