Ellis Surgical Quality Commitment
Reducing readmissions for heart bypass surgery patients
Ellis has partnered with insurance providers MVP and CDPHP to create an innovative new program called the Ellis Surgical Quality Commitment. A first for the state, it promises to deliver the highest quality of surgical care for coronary bypass surgery patients. The goal of the program is to reduce complications and readmissions, and lower healthcare costs.
The first program of its kind in New York State
Ellis is the first hospital in the state currently offering a program of this nature. The Ellis Surgical Quality Commitment demonstrates our complete dedication to providing the very best surgical care. The program involves unprecedented collaboration between a hospital and health insurers to assume the costs associated with hospital readmissions related to coronary bypass surgery.* It also involves patient education. Patients agree to become active participants in their own care: to learn about their condition, the treatment, and agree to follow instructions, eliminate health risks and monitor their recovery.
By demanding the very highest quality of care, partnering with our patients and insurance companies and assuming responsibility for costs of readmissions, Ellis Medicine is creating a new model for surgical excellence and more responsible healthcare.
*The Ellis Surgical Quality Commitment program currently applies to only MVP and CDPHP patients undergoing coronary bypass surgery procedures through Ellis Medicine. Certain terms and conditions apply. Call 518.243-4063 and ask for program details.
