Objective: Ellis Medicine currently operates two Emergency Departments (EDs) located within a few miles of each other on Nott and McClellan Streets in Schenectady. To increase efficiency and cost-effectiveness, Ellis Medicine will consolidate down to one full service, 24/7 ED in Schenectady County located at Ellis Hospital (Nott Street).
Project Highlights:
- Expanded treatment stations from 47 to 60
- Increased capacity for up to 80,000 annual visits (Ellis is the largest provider of emergency care in the region)
- Future expansion possible to handle 25,000 additional visits should community need arise
- Improved patient flow
- Enhanced privacy
- New two-story 212-space parking facility on Rosa Road
Related steps:
When the new Golub Center for Emergency Care is complete, Ellis plans to convert the ED at the Ellis Health Center on McClellan Street into an urgent care center (a more appropriate setting for the large volume of non-emergency cases seen here).
Ellis will open the Medical Center of Clifton Park, which will feature 24/7 emergent care, on October 29, 2012 at 103 Sitterly Road, Clifton Park. This new facility will better meet the healthcare needs of residents in this fast growing community.
