The DAISY Award
Ellis Medicine is proud to be a DAISY Award Hospital Partner,
recognizing all that our nurses do each day to provide exceptional care to
our patients.
The DAISY Award was established by the DAISY Foundation in memory of J.
Patrick Barnes who died of complications of the auto-immune disease
Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP) at the age of 33. The Barnes
Family was inspired by, and grateful for, the clinical skills and compassion
of the nurses who cared for Patrick, so they created the DAISY award.
A DAISY Award nominee is a nurse whose clinical skill and compassionate
care exemplify the kind of nurse that our patients, their families, and our
organization recognize as an outstanding role model. She/he acts in a way
that consistently demonstrates the values of our organization.
Patients, visitors, nurses, and physicians may nominate a deserving nurse
by printing out our
Daisy Nomination Form and mailing to:
Ellis Medicine Nursing Office
Attn: CARE Review Board
