Thank you for your interest in Ellis Hospital. As you may know, health care in Schenectady is undergoing unprecedented change, driven by New York State mandated reform efforts.

Since the state’s so-called "Berger law" took effect in January 2007, Ellis Hospital has agreed to assume responsibility for the programs and services of the former Bellevue Woman’s Hospital and, most recently, those of the former St. Clare’s Hospital. As a result, the same full range of services continues to be offered right here in Schenectady, provided by the same experts you have come to know and trust.

Whether it’s welcoming a baby into the world, performing advanced cardiac surgery, treating a stroke patient, providing mental health services to a troubled teen, or caring for an elderly loved one, Ellis is the place thousands of families across the Capital Region turn to for quality health care.

As you look over our website you will find information about the services we offer on our three campuses - the Ellis Campus, McClellan Campus, and Bellevue Campus. We will be making a number of changes over the next few years that will help us to improve the way we deliver care to you, so please visit this website from time to time for updates.

Service Summary

Ellis Hospital is the centralized location for medical / surgical inpatient care, critical care and inpatient pediatric care. Ellis’ emergency department is open and fully staffed 24/7.

The McClellan Campus (formerly St. Clare’s Hospital) houses outpatient services, including day surgery, medical imaging, primary and dental care, laboratory services, wound care and a sleep disorder center, among other outpatient programs. The McClellan Campus emergency department is open and fully staffed 24/7.

Bellevue is the centralized location for women’s health (OB/GYN care), including maternity services, breast care, imaging and laboratory services.
